A Song a Story

This Page is dedicated to songs from Movies that stuck with me. I think the two really go hand in hand. I discovered a lot about music through film.

The Obvious

The Wizard of Oz- Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Footloose - Footloose: Kenny Loggins                          Holy Moly, I totally love to dance to this song. The first time I saw this movie my legs twitched through the whole thing. I pretty much know the whole soundtrack.

Dirty Dancing- Time of My Life I love this part of the dance. Such a pinnecle part of the movie. Such an epic stand.

Empire Records- Wow did I want to work there! So here are a few of the songs that I love.

Free- The Martinis

Bright as Yellow- The Innocence Mission

Till I Hear it From You- Gin Blossom

Money(That’s What I Want)- Flying Lizards

Romeo and Juliet- Again there are a few songs here that really got me.

Pretty Piece of Flesh- One Inch Punch

Talk Show Host- Radiohead

Lovefool- Cardigans

I can pretty much sing the movie.

10 Things I Hate About You- This movie introduced me to Letters To Cleo who I immediatly fell in love with.

I want you to want me- Letters To Cleo

I Know- Save Ferris

and this is one of the best

Atomic Dog- George S. Clinton

Bad Reputation- Jone Jett

Mad Love- Drew Barrymores spastic dancing to 7 Year Bitch was pretty phenomenal.

Scratch- 7 Year Bitch

Thank you Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin in the fabulous movie Bio-Dome for this treat.

You Can Dance if You want To- Men Without Hats

Benny and Joon

I would walk 500 Miles - The Proclaimers

Now I would say Garden State rocked many a world in the music community. It opened my eyes to The Shins, Frou Frou (Imogen Heap), Remy Zero and Iron and Wine. So Here are but a few that really stuck.

In The Waiting Line- Zero 7

 New Slang- The Shins

Such Great Heights - Iron and Wine (Such amazing Lyrics)

Let Go- Frou Frou

Classical Music is something that I have just started to appreciate. The move Pride and Prejudice helped with that.

Dawn a somber piece but when I hear it it I think of a solitary walk.

This piece is hot because it is when Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have their first dance together. A Postcard to Henry Purcell. You can feel the tension between them.

and for the oober nerd …..

in my 80’s movie Genre we have classics that I hven’t covered already like

Don’t You- Simple Minds _ The Breakfast Club

Weird Science- Oingo Boingo_ Weird Science

Nothings Going to Stop Us- Starship_ Mannaquin

Glory of Love- Peter Cetera_ Karate Kid

Good Enough- Cyndi Lauper_ Goonies

Movies and Music are an interlocking force.

If I can think of any more crazy songs to add I will.
